A: There are three different positions for the harness straps.  At all times when rear-facing, the harness straps should come out of the car seat shell at or below your child’s shoulders.  If you need to move the straps up to the next position, you will need to remove baby from the seat, flip it over, remove the harness straps from the metal splitter plate, move them up to the next slot, and then re-attach the harness straps to the metal splitter plate.  Your car seat instruction manual has detailed instructions on how to do so with accompanying graphics.

A: If you are able to pinch the fabric of the harness together (at the shoulder), it is too loose. According to Safe Kids; with the chest clip placed at armpit level, pinch the strap at your child’s shoulder. If you are unable to pinch any excess webbing, you’re good to go.

A: All fabrics will get warm as the car seat is exposed to hot temperatures. If you are concerned about the temperature of the car seat, you can park in the shade to help prevent the seat from getting too warm. We also recommend using the buckle holders (when available) to make sure children's skin does not come in contact with the hot metal. Turn the A/C on in your vehicle prior to loading your child.

A: For a newborn, it's recommended that the waistband be worn high on the waist so the baby is close enough for you to kiss their head. The waistband can remain higher or lower on your hips as the baby grows. Adjust the waistband to your individual comfort. The waistband should always feel snug; doing so will allow ergonomic weight distribution on your hips for more comfort on your back and shoulders.

A: Infant car seat release buttons are located on both ends of the base. The child restraint can be removed in either the side or rear facing position.

A: Spot cleaning is acceptable for all Joie gear. All of our car seats have removable fabrics that you can machine wash and air dry. Please check your manual for the best way to clean your car seat's fabrics.
